ABOUT

Welcome to the Soundtrack to the 80s movie that never was but should have been.

AS SEEN ON VHS!!!

Maximus Monk is the alter ego of Tony Mator, a mild-mannered father-of-four who transformed his attic office into a low budget studio to produce the best electronic music a few hundred dollars could buy.

Then the magic happened. Awesomeness to the maximus.

The Maximus Monk soundscape is an electronic journey inspired by 80s movies, 8-bit video games and New Wave classics, alongside more recent influences like Brothertiger's retro-flavored chillwave grooves, M83's haunting melodies, Caspian's soaring sheets of sound, and those ubiquitous synthwave playlists that make you want to spend the whole night cruising the highway with the top down and the volume up to 11. Honorable mention goes to Joy Electric, the weirdest thing to come out of the 90s Christian underground scene, which planted the idea in the Monk's head of bridging the gap between "real music" and the geeky sounds he used to record onto cassette tapes from his NES games.

Everything you hear was produced in FL Studio (or occasionally Ableton Lite). Hardware includes a Launchkey 61-key MIDI controller and a travel-size M-Audio MIDI controller.
